After a traffic accident, Kazuma Sato’s disappointingly brief life was supposed to be over, but he wakes up to see a beautiful girl before him. She claims to be a goddess, Aqua, and asks if he would like to go to another world and bring only one thing with him. Kazuma decides to bring the goddess herself, and they are transported to a fantasy world filled with adventure, ruled by a demon king. Now Kazuma only wants to live in peace, but Aqua wants to solve many of this world’s problems, and the demon king will only turn a blind eye for so long…
Anime isn’t funny. Is a statement I used to standby quite firmly, until I watched Konosuba. In my opinion it’s one of the few anime that’s genuinely funny, and quality not dropping through the seasons. I think what makes it funny is that it’s not those “born into a different world and making all woman I meet wet” cliche kind of stories, it’s a very character driven stories. You’ve got: A short tempered main character A useless self indulgent priest A 1 time per battle nuclear bomb DPS And a masochist tank You put these people into a story some funny stuff is of course going to happen. The situation they end up in isn't all that funny but it’s just how the characters interact is the funny part. Also darkness my personal goat.
